Wild Toro
Olé, Olé, Olé!
As soon as the Wild Toro slot fires up, and the sights and sounds of Seville jump out of your screen, you know you are in for something special.
It’s the Matador (it’s the sneaky Diaz Jr., son of the evil Capitan Diaz who is famed for banning anyone eating tacos in the Taco Bros slot) against the Wild Toro and it’s a toss up as to who has the best gnashers. These two could just as easily face off in a Dance Off. I can see a lot of wombat in that Toro.
Your symbols are a blinking Matador with nerves of steel, a handsome looking bull (the Toro!), Seville oranges, roses for the ladies plus a fan for when things heat up a bit, plus gold, silver and bronze coins. This is high energy stuff, about as far away from the chilled out Glow slot as you can imagine.
The handsome Toro is a Walking Wild that moves from right to left (a very cool feature this). The Wild Toro text symbol is wild and will stand in for all other symbols apart from the Matador and the Toro.
The dashing Matador (who’s super brave until the Toro gets the red mist and starts knocking him about) is a Re-Spin trigger. More on this neat little feature below.
The Wild Toro Slot in Detail
This is a 5 reel slot with 4 rows with 178 Ways to Win. The Toro symbol only appears on reel 5 and the Matador shows up on reels 2,3 and 4.
Now here’s the cool bit. The Wild Toro can be played in 2 different modes- the base game mode and the bonus play mode. In the bonus, the Toro will go crazy and knock out all of the Matador symbols going vertically and then horizontally across the reels in a snorting, grunting rampage. And he leaves wilds behind until he has knocked out all of the matadors.
The bonus draws to a close when he has arrived on the first reel and defeated all of the matadors. You can only have one attacking Toro symbol at a time going for the Matador symbols (give him a bit of slack!), although you might see more than one Toro on the reels at any one time.
Look at the big fella! Does he think he’s Adonis or what?
Matador Re-spin Challenge
If you get 3 Matador symbols on the reels you will set off the Matador Re-Spin Challenge– you’ll get 3 re-spins with an evil little chuckle from that sneaky Matador. The Matador symbols are sticky and you can rack up more free spins if you land extra free spins symbols- each one that drops in will get you an additional re-spin.
You get to the end of the re-spin round when the count hits zero or a Toro appears. The maximum win on this slot is a cool 225,000 coins. That should have you tapping out a few “golpes” in your flamenco boots!
Betting Strategies
This fine game is an ELK Studio slot who also make the Sam on the Beach slot, and their other classic, the DJ Wild slot game. Just like these games you can set various automatic betting strategies which will adjust your bet according to the outcome of the previous spin. You’ll find them in the menu.
-Optimiser bets a % of your balance.
-Leveller raises your bet after 5 consecutive losses (also know as a negative progression system)
-The Booster system raises your bet after a loss and resets after a win.
-The Jumper raises your bet 1 level after every winning round until you hit 4 levels above your starter bet. then it resets. It also resets after a loss.
These settings are all designed to be used in tandem with Auto-Spins which you activate by pressing and holding the spin button.
Symbols
Your top paying symbols in the base game are the rose symbol (5 pay 1000 coins), followed by the Seville oranges (mmmm, Marmalade), the purple fancy lace hand fan, and then the gold, silver and bronze coins.
If you get 5 wilds, they will pay out as the highest symbol- so we are talking the Seville roses which will net you 1000 coins. Talk about coming up smelling of roses!
More Settings
Hit the cog symbol to change the sound settings, select Quick Play or switch between “show in coins” and “show in money” modes. You can also set a reality check interval (between 15 minutes and 1 hour) which will just give you a nudge when that amount of time has passed. Great idea!
Mobile Wild Toro Slot
As with most of the ELK Studio games we have tested on our phone, this game looks phenomenal on a phone or tablet. You get the feeling they designed it for mobiles first and then enhanced it for desktops and lap-tops. Try it on your phone, and you’ll see what we mean! Going full screen is a doddle.
Summary
We are big fans of ELK studio slots like Taco Brothers, Poltada and Bloopers- the Wild Toro slot doesn’t disappoint. The animations are spectacular- particularly when the Toro chases the Matador around the reels in the bonus round, smashing his way through the reels. The matador is left cowering behind his red muleta and you’re left with a whole heap of wild symbols and a nice shower of coins! Watch the full Youtube promo video here.
Added to that, this game works like a dream on whatever device you happen to be using. Even for Elk Studio’s high standards, they have surpassed themselves on this game. I suppose their mantra is “mobile first”.
I love the Spanish chit chat and the Latin jazz soundtrack tinkering away in the background! Even when you’re navigating through the pay-table, the slot sounds like something out of Star Trek. When the Toro walks around the reels, he has a kind of funky strut and grunt going on which reminds me of Moto Moto- the chunky hippopotamus off Madagascar 2.
Wombat Score 5/5
Can I give a score higher than 5 for this game? I suppose I had better not.
Placed within the same universe as Taco Brothers and Taco Brothers Saving Christmas, Wild Toro is an Elk Studios release inspired by the Spanish corrida. This time, the story centres around Diaz Junior (evil Captain Diaz’s offspring) and his arch-enemy, El Toro. The roles are in this case somewhat reversed and El Toro seems to be the one pulling all the strings, pursuing the torero unmercifully across the reels…
Worth noticing that it’s the highest payout Elk Studios slot, although not the loosest slot available online.

Gameplay
The slot has 5 reels and 178 win ways with 12 bet levels. The bets are selected manually from the betting table, with the minimum amount of $0.20 and the maximum bet of $100. Quick Play and Auto Spin options are available, with 10 to 100 continuous spins that can be stopped at any time.
Wild Toro slot features two Wilds – El Toro Walking Wild that can move across the reels and Wild Toro logo that can replace all other icons except for El Toro and Matador. The latter symbol is the slot’s version of Scatter and the combination of three unlocks the bonus feature. Other symbols include The Rose, The Orange and The Fan while the lower value icons are represented by the bronze, silver and gold coins.
Strategy is an important part of any game of chance (ironic as this might sound) and Wild Toro offers four betting strategies – Optimizer, Leveler, Booster and Jumper. The first strategy will adapt the bet level to your balance percentage, the second will raise your bets after 5 losses in a row and the Booster will do the same after one loss. The final strategy, Jumper, raises the bet after a win.
Wild Toro Bonus Features
El Toro symbol has zero tolerance for Matador and will readily charge at him across the reels. The symbol can move in vertical and horizontal directions, eliminating all Matador icons and leaving a trail of Wild Toro logo symbols. Walking Wild generates new spins as it changes its position.
Three Matador symbols landing on the reels will trigger Matador Respin Challenge bonus game. During this mode, Matador icon becomes a Sticky Wild, adding an extra spin every time it appears on the reel.
Verdict
Wild Toro slot is consistent to Elk Studio earlier releases especially in terms of graphics and style. The slot offers a high RTP percentage, calculated at 96.4% with a total payout of 225,000 coins. The fans of Taco Brothers may find the slot particularly enjoyable, as it follows the similar formula and includes references to the Taco Brothers characters. Nevertheless, thanks to the striking visuals and payout potential, Wild Toro is sure to acquire its own fan base.
